Is it that difficult to tell the truth in Washington DC? The Senate took up the Thune /Vitter bill today which would give national reciprocity to conceal carry holders. Basically if you have a conceal carry permit in Minnesota you can travel through or go to any other state that has conceal carry laws on the books. You still have to follow that states conceal carry laws, but at least you would be able to protect yourself. If you go to a state that does not have any carry laws on the books, let’s see, oh Wisconsin and Illinois are the only ones that don’t, then you cannot carry a firearm. Sound simple; well it was only two votes short of passing.
Now the honesty part. I heard today on various talk shows recordings of Mayor Bloomberg and Chuck Schumer. Bloomberg says that with this law a criminal in one state would be able to carry into another state and the police could not do anything about it. For some reason I thought criminals could not have guns or get conceal carry permits! I think they have to have background checks before they get guns or a permit. Shumer said basically the same thing. The point is if these politicians have a HONEST reason to not pass a pro gun bill bring it up and debate it. Don’t sit there and make up lies.
There is just very little honesty left in this countries capitol anymore. The president can’t even tell the people the truth about any of the bills he is trying to “Ram” through congress. It is very sad that a country that is as great as this one has a hard time finding honest leaders.
This Thune/Vitter amendment should have passed in my opinion maybe next year it will. Does Al or anybody want to have an honest debate on global warming? That’s another story.
