Our Military vs Congress

Obama was in Minnesota again speaking to the American Legion yesterday. Coming back up the interstate security was high which is the way it should be for a president. I am not sure what the President spoke about, but I am sure it was a lot of the same old talk. While he was speaking maybe he should have suggested that the congress take a pay cut. They should be paid the same as our soldiers or maybe our soldiers should be paid what a congress person is getting paid.

Honesty in DC

Is it that difficult to tell the truth in Washington DC? The Senate took up the Thune /Vitter bill today which would give national reciprocity to conceal carry holders. Basically if you have a conceal carry permit in Minnesota you can travel through or go to any other state that has conceal carry laws on the books. You still have to follow that states conceal carry laws, but at least you would be able to protect yourself. If you go to a state that does not have any carry laws on the books, let’s see, oh Wisconsin and Illinois are the only ones that don’t, then you cannot carry a firearm. Sound simple; well it was only two votes short of passing.

Now the honesty part. I heard today on various talk shows recordings of Mayor Bloomberg and Chuck Schumer. Bloomberg says that with this law a criminal in one state would be able to carry into another state and the police could not do anything about it. For some reason I thought criminals could not have guns or get conceal carry permits! I think they have to have background checks before they get guns or a permit. Shumer said basically the same thing. The point is if these politicians have a HONEST reason to not pass a pro gun bill bring it up and debate it. Don’t sit there and make up lies.

There is just very little honesty left in this countries capitol anymore. The president can’t even tell the people the truth about any of the bills he is trying to “Ram” through congress. It is very sad that a country that is as great as this one has a hard time finding honest leaders.

This Thune/Vitter amendment should have passed in my opinion maybe next year it will. Does Al or anybody want to have an honest debate on global warming? That’s another story.

Happy 4th of July

Well it is Independence Day and hopefully people put politics aside and remember what this day means. We as Americans have the most to be thankful for. Freedom, Liberty and the ability to persue just about any dream you wish. Instead of bickering or critisizing polititions thank a soldier for helping to keep this country the Land of the Free and Home of the Brave.

More Globull Warming

I was listening to the radio all day and to Fox news last week and this weekend and they are talking about the global warming. It just amazes me that all of these politicians seem to know better than anybody else about global warning yet they won’t allow ex-vice president Al Gore to speak to anyone. They keep saying that the consensus is in other scientists all over the world that says man is creating global warming. I have never heard about any debate with Al Gore on the subject of global warming yet he is the expert. If Al Gore science is so great and so accurate than why won’t he let anyone debate him? Let Al Gore prove beyond any doubt with a debate on this subject, then let the people decide, not the elite politicians. This administration wants to pass this global warming bill to reduce greenhouse gases when they won’t even look at the science. The consensus is not in there are plenty of scientists somewhere around 700 plus that disagree with Al Gore. The colleges in England that will only let the inconvenient truth movie be played with a rebuttal from someone on the other side. It is then said that there’s over nine obvious lies in the movie. Yet this administration wants to pass the carbon cap and trade tax on the American people. We’re in the worst recession in 50 years and they want to raise our energy costs. It is insane.

With a government takeover of General Motors and many of the bank’s and having a hand in Chrysler’s bankruptcy I believe that the government is going to try and force these two companies to build so called green cars. I don’t believe anyone wants to buy these cars. I don’t believe the American people want these green cars their small they do not get much better mileage then say I have ton pickup and they’re dangerous. When these green cars only get about 35 to 40 MPG and a half ton pickup gets around 30 yet it is safer and more comfortable which one would you want.

I was watching the local news here in Minneapolis yesterday morning and I think there are six or seven accidents around the city in the morning one was fatal and I was just sitting there looking at all of the carnage and the cars that were banged up  and I started thinking. Thank god there was only one fatality it was two cars that hit head on one was an SUV the other was a new small car, what if all of these accidents that are in Minneapolis the people were driving the small green cars. I wonder how many fatalities there would have been than. I was driving west of 94 on Thursday and there was one of these little small green cars the two seater, and it went flying by me I was watching it follow a semi  about 30yds. And behind the semi the draft from a semi was blowing this call over the road I was just wondering what would be like to drive this car that far behind a semi in the winter. I know that I would never buy one of these cars due to the fact their safety rating from the insurance companies is on the bottom of the list.

The bottom line is contact your Senators and tell yhem to oppose the Cap and Trade bill that is headed their way.

Acorn and Iran

With all that is going on in Iran I wonnder if Acorn was working over there. It seem that the same kind of tactics were used here though nowhere near th violence it still looks the same. When I say that I mean that there were more votes counted than people in certain areas. Minnesota has the same problem with Franken. It just seems that on both sides of the isle the honsty has all but disappeared.

The Arrogant and Elite

The U.S. government has left the country. They are all arrogant and elitist. They have no clue to what is going on in this country. Out in California they are more interested in saving fish than giving the farmers in central CA. water to water their crops. The west coast has one of the largest oil and natural gas supplies yet they won’t go get it so their state won’t have to go bankrupt. Now let’s go to the east coast well mainly Washington DC. They are as bad as the west end of the country. Instead of letting companies go bankrupt and re-structure their contracts they keep feeding them money, then after so many billions are on the table they then let them go bankrupt. Now they keep using the term “Global Warming” or “Go Green “so these companies now have to bow to the government and build so called green cars to save the planet. I know I do not want to buy one I like my van and SUV. My vehicles are safer than the hybrids and the get just about the same mileage. I don’t believe people will buy the hybrids, that is unless the government  keeps raising oil prices which intern will raise gas prices and some people will start buying these unsafe not fuel efficient vehicles. I drive a semi for a living, and they want to put emission systems on them, then the fuel mileage goes down so where is the savings. It is insane.

Then this week you have the elitist like Madam Boxer in California when she talks down to a General. A few weeks ago there was a meeting that was discussing guns going across the border to Mexico. Senator Schumer was talking to a border patrol agent and asking him if there were really 2000 guns a day going across the border. The agent answered no maybe 100 or 200. Schumer argued with him and stated that the Brookings Institute, a Washington think tank, said that there were 2000. The arrogant Senators won’t take the word of someone that is working on the border. They would rather believe some anti gunner in Washington that probably does not even know the difference between semi automatic and full automatic.

I don’t know maybe I shouldn’t say anything bad about the politicians. The biggest problem I have is they don’t listen to the people. Liberals especially, like in California about prop 8. They didn’t get there way and they are yelling and screaming like a bunch of school kids (elementary school). If the people that represent us keep pushing this country towards fascism we better vote them out as soon as possible or we may never get the United States of America back to the way the founding fathers wrote in the constitution and bill of rights.

Follow California????

Well with all that’s been going on in the financial arena we should just look at California for inspiration. Just look at the entitlements, retirement plans for government workers, the go green environmentalists that save the smelt, the transit system, there is just so much to list.

With the reality of California on the edge of bankruptcy we should look at them. Then run in the opposite direction. I grew up in CA. and it was once prosperous but then in my opinion, the environmentalists started to take hold. Now they are not the whole problem, there is overspending, illegal immigration ECT. I believe that a state that keeps claiming drought but uses fresh water out of reservoirs to save a small fish (smelt) has got a few screws loose. Then you have a state that has some of the biggest oil and natural gas deposits of the coast, way off the coast, but won’t drill have got another screw loose. The drilling would almost instantly, from the economists that I listen to, would balance their budget. Then take care of the illegal immigration problem and the state could be back on track. These solutions except the illegal immigration is blocked or caused by the environmentalist.

In my humble opinion look at what California is doing, and then do the complete opposite.

A message to Minnesota Lawmakers

I am writing you to try and clear some things up about the so called “Gun Show Loophole” myth. First thing is that state and federal lawmakers should not look at making anymore gun control laws. There are over twenty thousand gun laws on the books already that cover most problems that would come up. The new laws such as the gun show loophole, one gun a month, bullet serialization and many more laws that are just “Feel Good Laws” in other words, they do not do anything to stop crime. The Brady Center and the Violence policy center or any other gun control group flat out just does not think anybody should own guns of any kind. These groups if they really wanted to stop crime would go after the prosecutors or the lawyers who get the criminals a plea bargain or a shorter sentence for a crime that they commit.

Let’s get back to what I started to write about the gun show loophole. First there is no such thing. Gun dealers still have to run a gun show within all the laws that they have to follow in there store. Then you say that what about private sales? Well I have been to a few gun shows in MN. And there were two private sellers in about six of the shows I have been to. They were not busy and I would guess that they would also ask for ID or a carry permit before the sale. Then you say not everybody would ask. True but here are some statistics. There was a study done at the University of Michigan. They examined every gun show and every homicide or suicide, organized by zip code, over a 11 year period (1994 to 2004) in both California and Texas. These states were chosen due to the population and the different gun laws. They also had a proportionate amount of gun shows.

In California the laws are very restrictive and even private sales have to go through background checks through a licensed dealer and the dealer has to keep records of the transaction. Texas has much less restrictive laws.

California already has the so called gun show loophole closed, yet the law had no impact on public safety. The comparison of these two states showed that the law in Ca. had no impact on safety and neither did the Texas law which is much less restrictive.

The FBI and the DOJ have been saying all along that Gun Shows are a danger to no one. Gun dealers have to obey the laws wherever they sell guns and they are held accountable if they do not.

If the state of MN thinks this “Gun Show Loophole” law will stop any crime they are sadly mistaken. The only thing new gun laws do for the most part is infringed on the rights of the law abiding citizen. This is just a feel good law that a politician wants to pass to make it look like he is doing something to stop crime. It won’t help.

There are plenty of other ways to combat crime, put more police on the streets, put people in prison when a gun is used in a crime with no plea bargaining. Hold the prosecutor accountable when he/she does not do their job.

Please do not support any more gun control we have the right amount now if not a little too much. Just enforce the laws on the books. Do not go after the law abiding.

Whats Next in 2009?

Well 2008 is coming to an end with everyone wondering what’s going to happen 2009. It will be interesting. You hear that there will be more bailouts, more gun control, check’s being sent out as a stimulus, taxes going up and on and on. Who knows? No one does, I sure do not know what President Elect Obama is going to do. He is going to have to prove to me that he will do the right thing and follow the Constitution the way it was written not how he interprets it. He should stop what this administration has started, the bailouts. Let the people decide which business is going to succeed or fail. Do not put in anymore gun control on the books, it does not help stop crime. Enforce the laws on the books already, keep the criminals locked up do not plea bargain with them. Leave the taxes low and stop the ridiculous spending. If a bill comes through congress do not add pork to it. To me when you add pork it is almost like bribery. You are paying someone through pork to vote a certain way. Close our borders and stop sending money to countries that hate us. It all comes back to one thing that I think the government at all levels has lost common sense. If the people that we elect would stop thinking of themselves and put the country first things would work a lot better. Stop trying to get reelected right after you have been elected, it seems like campaigning never ends.

Anyway hopefully Mr. Obama does the right thing and I hope everyone has a very Happy and prosperous New Year.

Voter ID's Now

Voter ID, We need them NOW!

I live up here in Minnesota and cannot believe what is going on up here. The election is over and Franken and Coleman are neck and neck. My question is whets going on! How did Franken find somewhere around 500 votes? Where did they come from, oh wait, 30 came out of a trunk. Sorry I forgot. Ok then where did the other 470 or so votes come from?

First I have a hard time even thinking that Franken got any votes. This is a guy that has a hard time stating the truth. He said he didn’t vote for bills in congress but Coleman did. Really, that’s amazing I don’t think he was in congress. Maybe in his mind he was.

Let’s get back to the voter ID that we desperately need. We need a library card to get books out of the library. We need a driver’s license to drive a car. We need a student ID from grade school on up for school functions. We have to show an ID to get on a plane at the airport. I think you get the idea. Why don’t we need an ID to vote? This is one of the most important things a U.S. citizen can do and no one asks for an ID. Whets wrong with this picture?

This whole election season (This election it seemed like a long season) all you heard about was Acorn and investigations of voter fraud or tampering with the election. Whether it was registering or crossing state lines to vote in that state that you don’t live it seemed like Acorn was in the news. This was also going on in 2004 and some states tried to get an ID but it was a fight either with the Democrats or the ACLU. They think that people do not need an ID and the Republicans are trying to suppress the poor voters.

Well we need voter ID’s and Acorn is the proof. An ID would not suppress the poor put the information on their driver’s license. If they don’t have a license give them an ID. Then Acorn could still drive them to vote. The key is to verify who they are, that they are U.S. citizens and legal to vote. Make it were they have to register at least 3 months before an election. Make the people show birth certificates or other proof that they are citizens of the U.S.

This problem has got to get under control. I feel that when I cast my vote it is being cancelled out by someone who is not legal to vote.

It's Over, finally

Well it’s over thank God! Senator McCain put up a good fight against Senator Obama who had far more funding from who knows where. I cannot say how Senator Obama will govern this country I do not think many can. I hope and pray it is from the center.

I still have a lot of questions for Senator Obama that were never truly answered. Where did all of your contributions come from? Why did you take the security off you web site? What connections if any to George Soros do you have? Will you follow the Constitution or do you believe it is an outdated document? Finally when the far left such as “Move on” starts calling and asking for favors will you give in even if you don’t think it is the right thing to do?

Senator Obama ran a great campaign against Senator McCain.  He spoke well and brought in huge crowds in stadiums. He was like a Rock Star! I still did not get much from these speeches on how he would run the country though. Granted I did miss a few of them. I did watch the interview on the O’Reilly Factor and that was the toughest interview he had. O’Reilly had to push to get an answer. He still won’t admit that the surge in Iraq was a success and that he was wrong about the surge. I hope that he can admit when he makes a mistake.

Senator Obama has started to pick his administration now. His first pick is Rahm Emanuel who from what I read is very partisan. Hopefully senator Obama can help him be bi-partisan; he did say that he would work across party lines I believe. We will see who else he picks.

Anyway that we look at the new President or how we feel about President Elect Obama we still live in the greatest country on earth. We as a nation have got to support our president and let him show us what he can do. We will not agree with everything he does or does not do. We must let him know what we agree with and what we do not agree with. The main thing is that we stay involved. We as a country cannot get complacent. There is no excuse anymore for not knowing about something. We have 24 hour news, the internet, satellite radio, there is no excuse! We have more freedoms than any other country. We have to keep them all. There is not anywhere in the world I would rather live that the U.S.A. I pray that that will not change in the next four years.

The Bill of Right

Well all the Obama supporters should take note that their messiah I believe does not believe not only in the Second Amendment but also the First Amendment. If you look at the voting record of Obama what you can find, it he has always voted against the Second Amendment. He has never stood up for gun owners rights. Now for the Obama side he may have not been elected in the Illinois state senate if he were not anti gun.

Now what I am talking about can all be found on the NRA web site including the letters from the Obama general council. http://www.nraila.org/media/PDFs/ObamaLetterNRAAd.pdf Now I believe in the First Amendment as much as I believe in the Second Amendment. The Obama camp has sent these cease –desist letter to local news stations in Ohio and Pennsylvania. They use Fact check to verify the truth but Fact Check just did not investigate his record properly the NRA did. I believe that Senator Obama just does not want his Second Amendment voting record exposed. He is trying to stop the freedom of speech in these states with scare tactics. Which state is next? Which Amendment is next? Voters beware if Obama is elected President he will try to “Change” the United States of America.

Vote Vote Legally Vote!

Here we go again another 2000 election so to speak. At the very least the states are trying to address the problem before the election. What I am talking about is Acorn. This community organization is at it again signing up people, two, three or seventy times so they can say that they are getting the people out to vote. It is funny though that they are supposed to be bi-partisan but by the reports come in they seem to push the people that they sign up, to vote for the democrat that’s running.  To me and most Americans this seems like a serious problem.

On Friday the Supreme Court agreed with the Ohio Secretary of State to stop the investigation into voter fraud. Why would the highest court not want to stop an illegal action by criminals, in this case Acorn. Thank god the FBI is still looking into this problem. The Ohio Secretary of State should be more than willing to check and double check voter registrations. To me this seems like a Democrat republican problem. In other words if Acorn were a conservative leaning group the liberals would have the media and news outlets along with the Secretary of State going after them.

This problem with voter fraud could very easily be solved.

First to vote you have to:

·         be a US Citizen

·         will be at least 18-years-old on Election Day

·         have any felony conviction record discharged, expired, or completed

·         are not under court-ordered guardianship where a court has revoked your voting rights

·         have not been ruled legally incompetent by a court of law

If you qualify then you go and register at a registration office similar to the office were you get your driver’s license. In fact you could probably do it at the same office and have the registration put on the magnetic strip that most drivers licenses or ID cards have now. You must prove that you are a US citizen then the office could do a background check to verify that you are who you say you are. There cannot be any registering on the same day you vote. It should be done at least thirty days in advance. On Election Day you simply give them your license the folks that are working verify that you are the one on the picture ID or license and that you are registered to vote. Then go vote.

I have no idea why the democrats are so opposed to this idea. They always say it affects the poor and elderly because they don’t have an ID or license. If they truly don’t have one give it to them for free but I have never seen anyone that doesn’t have an ID. It is not up to organizations like Acorn to provide the registration for people. People have got to take the responsibility upon themselves to vote. After all people can afford it it’s free.

An Opinion by a “Bitter” Truck Driver

First I am an Independent Truck driver in Minnesota that is struggling to make a living. I have been doing this for 15 years. I started following politics more closely after 9/11. I just wanted to give you my opinion of what I have seen and heard about Senator Obama. Some true some exaggerated I am sure but I believe with the exaggerations there is truth.

Barack Obama has some strange friends. He hung out with Reverend Wright for 20 years yet he never heard him say anything anti American or racist. Then you have Mr. Ayers a known terrorist from the weather underground who tried blowing up government buildings. Then he started his political career at the Ayers house.  We cannot forget the person who helped Senator Obama get his home, Tony Rezko. If I remember correctly he was just convicted of corruption in Chicago.

These are some of the people that Senator Obama associates with or has associated with in the past. He has stated that he broke ties with these people but he did associate with them. Some I still believe he deals with in my opinion.

As far as Senator Obama running for president I do not believe he has the experience. He was in the state senate in Illinois for two terms then this is the first term in the U.S. Senate. He worked as a “Community Organizer” which from what I understand is to help low income people to get a step up. This is accomplished by bringing money into the community, setting up jobs, trying to reduce crime. I have been in South Chicago it is far from being a safe community. I believe I read that he did get money brought into the community, around $200,000.00 dollars. I also read that it went to Father Plegars church, another associate of Senator Obama that is in the radical realm. He also stated that he taught constitutional law yet he believes that the constitution is a living document that can be interpreted in different ways. To me I believe that the constitution is set in stone with provisions to change it. To change it” We the People” have to change it not congress or the president. Again I just do not believe he has the experience.

Senator Obama has had a lot of interviews since this campaign has begun. I watched the Sarah Palin interviews and they were much tougher than any interview that Senator Obama has ever had. It seems that Senator Obama does not want to be confronted with hard questions or if you get lucky enough to interview him and press him on what he would do in certain situations he dodges the question.

Senator Obama has many strange acquaintances and friends. He also believes the Constitution in a living document. The proof is in his actions. He sent a letters to TV stations in Ohio and Pennsylvania threatening them with legal action if they don’t stop running NRA ads. They also sent one to Jefferson City MO. This is an infringement on the first amendment. The ads that the NRA ran showed his voting history (when he voted) while in the IL state senate and the US senate. The NRA would not spend an enormous amount of money if they did not research their claims against Senator Obama.

The associations and the letters to these states show me that when Obama wants “Change” he will try to change the constitution by putting judges in the Supreme Court that think like he does. The judges should not bring their ideals to the courts; they need to follow the law and the Constitution. There is a way to change the Constitution; it is changed by “We the People”. In my humble opinion Senator Obama will change this country in a bad way. He just flat out scares me. If he is elected president he will try to change this country to the way he feels that it should be not the way the people want it. I drive around the state of MN. And watch what signs are on people’s lawns and cars. Obama is in the inner city were most of the entitlements are received and McCain is outside the cities. If Obama is elected people will receive more benefits from the government and loose the drive that makes this country great, the drive to succeed, to get ahead to support yourself with as little help from the government as necessary. Now don’t get me wrong, people need a safety net in case something in their life goes wrong. We don’t need a lifetime or generations of entitlements. The old saying I believe is true, Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach him to fish and he will eat for a lifetime. People really need to be careful when they vote this year. Make sure you know what kind of “Change” you really want.
